Run number 2075, Monday 12th May 2025. From Ipplepen Football Club Hare Wet Johnny.

After prepping all the cakes ready for the auction later, we gathered in the car park ready to get going in the evening sunshine.

Approx 3 for the walkers and 5 for the longs. To be told if you want a warm up run round the football pitch (not many takers strangely!) Then on out onto the road. We are blessed to live in such a lovely party of the country and the hedgerows are full of flowers, blue bells, queen Annes lace and hawthorn a plenty as we continue into the village of Ipplepen. Through the church yard and around the houses for the shorts checking as we go. Pork Torpedo coming in handy with his flower app, identifying bright pink Gladiolus communis and a Judus tree. Careful as we raced across the main road and I thought we were going to South Devon Dairy for a milkshake, but not this time.

Through the field with the gate with the invisible fence as Horny and Soapy pretended to climb over it, then more stunning views over the hills and fields of the farm lands around. The rape fields are in full bloom this time of year with a beautiful yellow glow as we picked our way through head and shoulders just poking out as the dogs are lost beneath popping up now and again as the crops disappear.

From seeing a strava map of the longs run, would seem they went past Fermoys garden centre. All coming together as we get closer to the football club, cake is calling and we all have raided our piggybanks for lots of pennies to bid.

Thank you to the football club for putting on some food of firm favourite sausages and chips for £3, proper hash grub.

Then onto the main event, the cakes!

Wow what a spread, like being at the mad hatter's tea party! Well, we all are a little mad aren't we! Luckily Shitfaced turned up just intime for cake!

Hashers and auctions always go hand in hand and Forest did a great job of getting the bids up. Georgie and Piltdown Man didn't want to share their cake coffee and walnut cake with each other so bidding against each other! Beth or should she be now know as a Merry Berry who seemingly loves cake and kept bidding on many cakes! Bobby Ball unwittingly buying a marble cake, or then not to get it resold! Even Zoot and Hot Lips were locked into serious bidding only to realise it was against each other to roars of laughter! Pocket Rocket stocked up for the tuck shop bagging some Jack Flaps (as they will now always be known!) Chuffed my banoffee pie got lots of attention reaching £30! Think the top bidding was a tea loaf making £40?! We are clearly a baking club with a running problem now! And everyone went away stocked up with cakes and muffins.

Thank you for organising Soapy, and making as always, some delicious cakes. An amazing £351 was raised for such a worthy cause, SANDS. The stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity. A lovely evening showing support for Horny and Pork Torpedo and family who's granddaughter Quinn was sadly born sleeping so hope they take some comfort in this amount raised and that we are all here for you if you need.

Down Downs:
One for the Hare, great trail Wet Johnny.
Psycho, for running with Haldon
Bee Flicker for his 100 (120) runs
Georgie P'Orgie for being in the mens bathrooms
Pork Torpedo, for his great cake baking skills.

On on to next week.... Palmolive.
