Monday 29th July and its Teapots surprise 70th Birthday Run!
Teapot had arrived early to do his usual duty and book us all in, at the circle and he went through his usual treatment of a virgin hasher, introduced Wigwam, by dousing flour over his shoes. Teapot was then requested to don a blindfold!. after some reluctance and a bribe to see aHarriet
with top off afterwards, he swiftly agreed! Our turn now and “Desperate” handed
around “Teapot” face masks and on her signal Teapot was seeing not the Harriet !
but a “Happy Birthday” greeting from the large circle of Hash Teapot look-alikes
! Off we ran with the masks on the back of our heads…Teapot had always told me
he could run faster than me backwards!
Rent Boys 5 mile trail with its long short splits led us around the country lanes up and over Stoneycombe woods these had been severely cut back at the KK. end by a huge clearance of land ready for the new bypass. On Home now to theLord
Nelson for a beer and some much appreciated
excellent food from the landlord. After this, time for Teapots better half Lesley
to bring in the “Hat” cake and with all the right notes in the wrong order we
gave him a resounding version of Happy Birthday! Several DDs followed this,
with a final one for yours truly, for having after 27 years on many shiggy trails!
finally reached 900 runs and the reward of a DD from a specially engraved “Silver”
tankard .
