On On and with so many options the pack ran back and forth along the road before WIGWAMS cunning tail was discovered, leading us on a muddy slippery and a “mind those roots” route along the almost dry bed of the Stover Canal, then along construction route of the new cycle path heading towards the new crossing of the A38. With my knee still not 100% I decided near Teigngrace to take the short route, while the longs chasing hard after WARM FRONT were heading on towards Stover where FORREST and F/HUMP chose an unofficial “short cut” river crossing, which proved to be deeper than expected with the water rising now nearly to their waist mobile phones and dogs had to be somehow kept above water to get back on trail. Meanwhile back on the fields LADYBOUY and I with the rest of the short struggled a bit to find the trail, but at last we found an arrow pointed us towards Sampsons Farm. After a final mile of slipping and sliding along the river bank with a trip up into the mud along the way! we finally emerged safely back near Gallows Cross.
The landlord of the Kings Arms had laid on his usual excellent buffet and a few beers for the Down – Downs that were awarded to
FORREST STUMP- for leaving his Shirt on top of his car as he left CP !
SLIP-ON-ME- for Driving through the hedge to get into the car park.
FALLEN WOMAN- Eating too much, missed the ferry crossing on the DD Trail on Saturday.
SINKER- A stand in DD which should have gone to FISHBAIT
Thanks for a great trail WIGWAM
On On to next week at The Artichoke, Christow for Archangel’s birthday hash.
