On Mon 3rd we were at the Artichoke Inn, Christow, for what was billed
as Slacker's trail but due to changes in preparation for our 1600th Run
on 24th August the Christow Trail was laid by Forrest Stump, Hump and
Rearender, this did cause some confusion so next week we are at the
Belvedere CP, Haldon, then Lower Netherton, ( maps to follow) and on Mon
24th we finally reach our 1600th at Tinkley Bottom. Back to Christow
and on a great summer evening, at the circle several virgin
Hashers were introduced who had all been unloaded from FLYING PIG's
car, it was also good to see KERMIT back with us. The trio's trail, said
by FORREST to be “quite a short one” (well that would be a change!)
Longs did first loop giving the short a head start on the first climb up
to the appropriately named Hillcrest, then on-on up the steeper Brennah
Hill until we gasped to the much needed Fruit Stop and a chance for a
photo for RAMBO who's recovering after surgery in his hospital bed, this
surely should inspire his recovery? On down hill now towards Canonteign
Falls then the challenge of the huge spoil heaps where FORREST told
some it would be an easy route, those sliding down on their backsides
did not agree! Next challenge was a river Teign wade with HEIDI guiding
us across with flour on the water? to the escape ladder. On now along
the old Teign Valley rail embankment and at last a chance to run off
road, WET JOHNNY checked across the river again, but it was on-on
towards Lower Ashton? “We must be miles from Christow” said MELLON
PICKER as we crossed the main road and headed on up and up back on a
pleasant route! to the O/H sign which confused SLIP-On-ME “never seen
that before” this comment almost cost her a DD! Numbers gradually grew
at the Artichoke as the pack finally made it back around 9pm to an
excellent buffet for a donation to FORREST'S charity. Down Downs were
awarded to SATNAV for leaving her Subs Book on the wall outside!
REARENDER and FORREST H, for that 10k trail and finally to 69 his DD
reward for 200 RUNS at last!
Well done the Hares for an excellent trail and evening
