At the Circle it was my pleasure to welcome virgin Harriet “Sam” to her first and hopefully not last trail as Mouldy had devised a varied and some will say confusing route for us Longs Med, Shorts and Walkers, starting almost off road and over fields followed by road with two of those dreaded “fish-hooks” on-on to a Sweet Stop where we searched successfully for the hidden goodies.
The first split at Broadhempston led yours truly on the Short ( recovering from all that rum) over fields with WIGWAM and SMELLIE another Split where SMELLIE must have chosen Long which she probably regretted later after ending up in Ipplepen. WIGWAM and I headed on into a farmers favourite electrically fenced field where we searched but could not find the bridge that used to be there somewhere, so took a Greg Rutherford long jump run at the stream and to the cheers from the crowd? just made the 4foot distance!
Finding the field exit gate was easy but having grasped it was very ss-shocked! to find it wired up to the electric fencing! Eventually after ducking under the live fencing again we found our way up and over hill to the safety of the pub.
After reviving ourselves it was time the offenders to have their Down Down awards first one to TEAPOT for losing his horn, but “NOT here for the BEER” had found it?
Next from SMELLIE to MOULDY DICK lack of marks leading a whole group astray.
A DD and birthday song in traditional style to WET JONNY.
Finally to well named SATNAV who sent new Harriet SAM to a pub in Broadhempston,
NEXT WEEK will SATNAV find her way to Hembury Wood and will TEAPOT find his trainers??
Well done MOULDY for an excellent evening.
On to Mon 20th: at Hembury Wood, OD Abbey Inn, Buckfast, Hare: Wigwam
