Hash No 1745 Monday 4th June
The Jolly Sailor East Ogwell
Hares Zoot & Hotlips & Scribe SMEllie
On a very warm summers evening 35+ very orange hashers and 6 pups gathered in the car park of the Jolly Sailor. I’m not sure if it was an after effect of Soapy and Melon Pickers Mexican Night? I hear that everyone had a great time
The answer to the circle question was only known to the two hashers it involved but we’re very pleased they’re here. It’s Piltdown Man and Georgie P’s 10th Hashing Anniversary with Teign Valley! Coldtitz just made it before the off again, she is a busy lady.
With news that the short was 4.5 miles I optimistically opted for the long. Doris had a dilemma and after much deliberation probably did her own thing. Hit by the hill start away that was the last I saw of the FRB’s. Hey ho!
There were many challenges on trail -the first being opening the blooming gates. With nettles and barbed wire around the handle we really should have taken the hint! We then arrived at a field with some snorty bulls guarding the exit gate. Worried they may charge at us U bend bravely went first. Or rather I opted to hide behind him. Anyhow more hashers arrived and the cows got a bit frisky
(I thought they were all boys together but maybe they’re not fussy?) Thankfully Arfanar aided by Wigwam soon put a stop to their funny business, shooed them away and the trail continued.
Us steady longs continued to Denbury where it become apparent we were off trail. I did feel sorry for Ubend who lost with SMEllie and Blue Bird was between a rock and a hard place. Archangel wisely did not follow us. After asking for directions from a native we back tracked and eventually broke in to the prison grounds where Blue Bird informed me I could improve my running efficiency by 10% if I turn my left foot the right way. Is this why I keep going around in circles?
Other news from the shorts – Zoot was getting puffy with flour, sprinkling it like fairy dust and Shit Faced was heard telling Here for the Beer to get a move on as he’s not driving and wants many ales tonight. Bit of role reversal there!
Meanwhile back at the pub – The buffet looked like a good spread but true to hashing gannet form was consumed at lightning speed so I didn’t even get a chip!
Wide Receiver did the Down Downs. Hunk of Beef awarded Forrest Stump one for mistaking the Moose hat for a bacon roll?! He definitely needs to go to Spec Savers.
Things got more confused after that Blue Bird declared ‘I’m an idiot and I can’t be held accountable!’ Nuff said. Man Pig was awarded a new Hawaiian shirt as Maxine washed the Pillock original. Then I unfortunately learnt a new term and had to witness a demonstration. I didn’t get the relevance initially but Erection was a willing participant and it seems a Dutch Rudder is sort of a Menage a moi but with an accomplice. Moving swiftly on there was a naming. After many a rabbit themed suggestion (none of them complimentary) Laura is AKA as T.Humper. Great name!
News Flash there will be a beer trail on Saturday 7th July. Newton Abbot to Exmouth. Perfect!
Thanks to the Hares Zoot and Hotlips for a great trail.
I’m off next week with 15 other Teign Valley Hashers who will be taking the revelries to Poland.
A great evening, well done the the Hares
Na Na (On On in Polish) next week to The Park Inn Kingskerswell TQ12 5BQ
