Circle
I
think the only announcement was about next week's run from Brownstone and Coleton camp - namely, that Beeflicker's pop up bar is NOT a free bar. Bring
change for your drinks as professional barman/barlady/barperson
(delete as appropriate) will be on duty. No money. No drink. It was
also clarified that the pop up bar was in lieu of retiring to a pub for
the on-down.
The
Pig asked for a volunteer for The Words. Forrest immediately shot his
hand up and then palmed The Words off to Psycho. What a great offload.
Finn Russell would have been proud of you.
Trail (penned/texted by Psycho)
Thanks
all for coming. Circle up at Bridford Inn 14/7, many people made the
effort to trundle deep into the Teign valley to the thatched pub. Show
of hands, turns out many hashers wanted a double sausage.
Everyone was there (mostly).
I
made an effort to describe the trail, but hampered by myself and
knowing the wind *may* have relocated some of the marks into dust, I
kept it brief. There are VPs! Some LS splits! OS! 3onon! Best of luck!
Beeflicker
led the pack assertively to the right, I doubted myself but headed
left, Forrest confidently nudged the pack into the churchyard. The
walkers split left and into a dingly dell and pretty wooded track,
checks aplenty. Longs straight on, grass paths through new woodland.
Reconvened on the road and an early VP out and back to Heltor, Pocket
Rocket advising 'climb it on the right!'. Nature had put on clouds and
mood for the fab 360 view.
The
walkers turned back, and trekked home for chips and drinks, sorry for
all the lane guys. Shorts and longs headed on, checks aplenty, and a
few hashed across the field and private track, a 'discussion' with the
elderly permissive owner, who asked us three times if we had been here
before, aha, his son was holding court and dad had no recollection of
giving us permission, all smoothed over and on-on we all went.
Turning
right, tiny lanes 'til more thatched gorgeousness (with stables,
drool) and a huge LS split. Shorts took a tidy lane with the most
manicured verges (occasional canter track), then checked through grass
track, field edge, pretty woodland, down down to a brook, finally
finding a windy displaced OH.
The
longs meanwhile, were storming forward, more leafy wooded lanes, the
eagle eyed finding sawdust on green moss walls, who nose,[Shirley sic, I
can't keep up] so far ahead, myself and Pisswell sweeping had been on
this lane so silent just yesterday!
We
passed the tall 'chicken gate', before Blackingstone loomed, tiny pin
figures on the top, great they're still going, Warmfront doing
acrobatics on the dual rails above steep steps and a 60m precipice. By
the time we got up there only oranges remain, we ate a bunch and I
wrongly assumed we were tidying up, ColdTits later told me she would
have loved an orange slice.
On-on,
through beech trees, the pack had knocked out the check wrong but
found their way anyway, turning left steeply down through Victorian
ruins to the reservoir. An optional swim stop, with a Caribbean sized
orange box.
Longs
were treated to a steep hill climb and tree jump track, one last VP
across a valley field and on-on thro the woods to a fern encrusted
bridlepath, down down and OH. 8 mile long, apologies/your welcome.
Unfortunately
most hashers had scoffed and gone by 9:30 time we got in, but
downdowns were had, Wood Lend for risque photo ops, Warmfront for her
gym fun, me hashitshirt because. And some cold chips. What a great
night.
Thanks to Forrest & Pisswell co-hares, here's to many more.
On-on,
Psycho
Next week
Next
week's Hash is from Brownstone and Coleton camp (W3W: tunes.hunk.hunk). Our Hare
is Beeflicker and the On-Down will be back at the car park with
Beeflicker's pop-up mobile bar.....bring change!
