We
met on a wet dreary Monday 1st June at Coombe Cellars but were greeted
with a warm welcome from the hashers. Beeflicker had laid the trail in
flour and hopefully enough marks would still be visible with the on and
off showers . At the circle Soapy reminded people that the Devon Nash
Hash 2027 website is now live to have a look, and that registrations
open 13th July!
We left the car park and there were options of longs and shorts. I opted
for the shorts, still a good 4 miles ad the longs just over 5 miles.
Not sure on the walkers distant but if they did the long route, they
would still walk 5 or so miles, it would just take a long time so best
not that option!
Running round the edge of farmers fields trying to guess the crops, one
had rape seed that managed to get all our socks shoes and legs soaking
wet at the start of the trail, already regretting not wearing my
waterproof socks! Next was winter barley starting to crop up, very apt
seeing as Nash Hash 2027 is farmer themed so was a talking point. Didn’t
spot Teresa may frolicking in wheat fields it must be said.
As always, I like to see all the wildflowers on the trails. Spotting
cow parsley blowing in the breeze, the sweet smell of honeysuckle and a
few herb Roberts thrown in for good measure. Oh and did I mention it was
raining! But still enjoying the views over the estuary and the fields
of Stokeinteignhead. Marks were still there, apart from some which
annoyingly the public had hidden under leaves, but you can’t fool a
hasher and we stayed on trail. A few checks to keep everyone on their
toes and most importantly the hash together and lots of calls of ‘On On’
to be heard.
Back to the Coombe Cellars for the down downs and to warm up/dry off.
Awards to the hare for as always a great trail, Earnie gave one to
Forest for not being able to tie his own shoe- although I did think it
as a proposal. Soapy got one for baby clothes shopping-no, no news from
me it was for Hornies granddaughter!
Nice to see everyone, on on!
Palmolive.
