With hare Pisswell
Circle: Priddons, road above Holne
Who wuz there?
Pisswell, Beefy, Beeflicker, Big End, Well Hopped, Ollie, Piltdown Man, Forrest, Georgie P’Orgy, Monica, Miss Inn, Tongue and Groove, Woodlend, Manpig, Pyscho, Slip on me, Mouldy Dick and shhhhhhh….our birthday girl, Coldtits
Circle: Due to an accident on the A38, it was a late start for the circle and for everything else for the evening, but eventually we were able to start with Pyscho catching up later.
Our deputy dog GM Forrest forgot the hash number but enthusiastically welcomed himself back to the hash, after taking a break to climb Mt Kenya.
Pisswell, did a convincing impersation of SMEllie and some messages from her. So much so that, although Beefy was holding his nose, he was keen to take her home later!
The hare staggered, dehydrated and a little confused about the changing mileages, to say the stuff all hares say after a long hot day laying the trail.
The trail:
To the tune of “Running for home” / running from Holne
I've reeced this land
with some fl-our in my hand
And an eye ever open for a hash
I've made some mistakes,
Private land, goodness sake!
Seen hash-ers climb-ing gates, and on the run
Run from Holne, Priddons start to Great Coombe,
Whoa, past the shack, running from Holne
Run from Holne, bracken track, all down hill,
Whoa, dodging-ticks, running from Holne
I've hung all the sweets on the branches of the trees
Off the strings they can take and they are free
And I've laid there a split, hope that all-are up for it
But they all have to choose… we’ll see
Run for home, run which way? It’s your choice.
Whoa, buzzing flies, chasing us home
Took shorts up Mitch-el-combe
It’s just near Scorr-i-ton
It’s round just the corner to the lane
All can chose left or right, they can
Go where they would like
a big hill
They soon will discover
Walkers, longs, go up hill as they can
Whoa, walkers right, walking on home
Longs to left, meet the shorts, go back down
Whoa, poor old longs, hope they don’t moan!
Run back up, same old stuff, follow shorts
Whoa, Sandy way, running for home
I've reeceed the land,
made the longs go up and down
Beat the bracken, it beat me, please
understand
Yes, I couldn’t see trails, so the best made plans can fail
But Venford said it all, you survived!
Run on home, Forrest inn, if you can
Whoa, running home, for the on downs
Run for home, drink as fast as you can
Whoa, we are pro, at the down downs
Outtakes:
Forrest with no altitude sickness led the motley crew as an FRB and loved the ascents.
Coldtits ran humming a little birthday tune in a low key way as only she could!
Down downs:
1. The hare for her cunning circle, making the longs go up the same steep hill twice!
2. Manpig had no spare hands or heads, so Forrest got the next one for having a spare leg and FRBing or something. Or maybe having the same name as the pub? Or Big End said no one was listening to Beefy calling on at the check??
3. Monica for going it alone, battling the bracken and brambles and jumping the snakes and ultimately surviving the shorts.
4. Ollie just because, with Well Hopped for laughing too much.
5. And not to make a fuss we all celebrated Coldtits birthday with a wonderful hash birthday song, flowers, balloons, bunting, food and the pièce de résistance………the boobies birthday cake, complete with a pair for everyone, nipples included! Thank you Coldtits.
Where are we next week?
The Bay horse in Ashburton with Piltdown man and Georgie Porgie.
Ps. Just a quick P.S!
The Forrest Inn was great last night and the food was wonderful. Thank you so much for your donations towards it. I just wanted to say that when I went to pay, Paddy the chef, wouldn’t let me pay anything! I looked after his father a long time ago and he said he wanted to say thank you for all I had done. His father, Colin, had told me that all he ever wanted was to see Paddy grow up, which he did, before he died. I was very touched by this kindness last night, so I hope you don’t mind, but I suggested that instead we donate the collected money on his behalf to the British Heart Foundation. What a lovely young man. Mop up the tears and on on to next week.
