Run #2149 Monday 5 October
OHFTB's Drum
Werdz
Late as usual, I bowled into Maddicks farm to the already prepared circle, just in time to hear SmEllie requesting an urgent hare as some disorganised soul has dropped out at the last minute - oops! Sorry, work calls! Therefore needing a volunteer for 19th October trail, contact SmEllie if you can. (already covered by good old ManPig. Ed)
A good turn out as usual to OnlyHerefortheBeer's annual birthday trail. The hares explained the 'splats' were laid on the right, possibly more on the tarmacked surface, and plead with us 'no lefts, no rights! Keep to the course' on the tracks & bridle paths!
We set out left from Maddacombe Farm, and immediately bunched up on the crossroads, faint calling 'are u'. I returned from Ipplepen (!) to find a gallant ManPig making sure I returned to the right postcode.
We jogged along the B Mill road past the chattering walkers, on-on, and MP stopped for a chinwag with Archangel.
I turned left onto a steep track with Strap On who joshed with me about taking the shorts, oops! So I backtracked to the tarmac, slowly gaining on other Longs hashers and always looking out for splats. Following a blob, I scooted up a rocky path finding Big End and Ned having a poo - just Ned, that is (!) Well Hopped was tackling the hill and I found Miss Inn setting the pace and keeping a tight eye on trail at all the junctions.
On the rocky descent, I decided to sacrifice my ankles and controlled falling past the walkers 'til I fell out its end to find Warm Front looking lost at a tarmac crossroads, "They've washed the road!" Indeed, a road crew had washed the road 'a cement spill' so no doubt they scrubbed all the pale white splats up as well, well done - not!... We guessed right and found a check, (we guessed that as well, promising to come back if we scored wrong - no need!) and hoofed our way home beside the Expressway and woods to a blazing fire and barbie.
Warm Front insisted on buying me a beer in exchange for a lift home, a bit weird as we all know I don't drink.
We didn't see the downdowns, but I think Forrest, OH4TB (happy birthday, thanks for great trail) and Jo got refreshments!
On-on! Psycho x
