Monday 21st Oct at the East Cliff CP, Teignmouth,
Georgie Porgie & Piltdown Man had a very busy afternoon laying this
trail as at 4pm the heavens opened
and it continued to rain until around 7:30
but our trusty duo had marked the trail well. At the circle we were pleased to
welcome Zorro and Twinkle Toes to our band of hardy Hashers, on advice from the
Hares we were warned not to attempt to run the sea wall section of the Trail,
as the waves with the wind behind them were coming over the pathway! On–On and
up the cliff pathway, where from here you could hear the heavy sea pounding the
seawall. It was a very warm evening and with the climb up, most started to peel
off the extra jackets. After several checks we were heading inland towards
Holcombe, I found myself with Wide Receiver and Bluebird then at a L/S split
they both went Short?? Somewhere ahead though was Pollyfella, as I reached a Check
at Dawlish he was nowhere to be seen or heard. The trail led across the fields Wide
R was now with me on the Long as we followed the Coastal Path up and down the
hills at Holcombe and due to the heavy sea back up the hills to Teignmouth
with a final fast run down hill via Mules
Park to the CP. The Landlady at Dicey Reilly's had prepared an excellent Chille
for us which Rambo did enjoy after all! Wide R. did an excellent job conducting
the DD’s which were awarded to Our Hares
for the excellent Trail, to Bluebird losing his torch, Wigwam for following mud marked arrows! and Pollyfella
who did find his way Home! and finally to our visitors Zorro and Twinkle Toes.
