Mon. November 25th at the
Ship Inn Cockwood, it had been a long time since we ran from this venue and
then it was probably on my trail!
Using up at least 7 bags of flour, I had
checked and rechecked the various options to get the best from the area, trying
not to make the trail too long or too short and it was all only just in place
as darkness fell on the night.
On the cold clear evening the pub was
very busy with diners as we formed our Circle outside, the aroma of food
preparations making us all feel very hungry before we even started!. Good to
see “No2” back with us and after Rambo’s announcement !…they would be away
until the 23rd Dec. so if any alterations to planned trails, please
advise me ASAP so that Busby can update
SW Diary…we then all headed off. The trail offered many variations Short Med
and Long along with many checks to try to slow the FRB’s, also included was a
woodland pause for the Zip Wire and other activities just to loosen us all up on!
it was though, hard to get some away “Satnav”! We were heading uphill and soon crunching
along through the deep fallen leaves in Eastdon Woods with the View Point
and its stunning view across the Exe estuary to the bright lights of Exmouth
seafront. On-On following trail marks which fortunately the many deer had not
eaten the Long sped around the edge of the crop fields eventually catching up
the Pack along the new cycle path as it wound its way back to Cockwood.
Back in the warmth of the Ship most of
the diners had now left but there was one group left near the bar and soon
realised that one of these was “Spud”
an ex member of TVH3, as the DD’s
commenced he was nominated for the first one! Which he Downed in true style!
