Mon 17th: St Mary ’s Church CP, Kingskerswell, OD Lord Nelson ,
Archangel ’s Birthday Hash and as it was St Patrick’s Day an Irish
themed eve. Good turnout from the pack, most of us wearing something green a
shirt or in the case of Wide R his Tutu! Amongst us were several pairs of cloverleaf green
cheeks a Leprechaun (Boggy) and terrier KC no longer black and white but now sporting
a new black green look! Soapy had mopped
up a few more outstanding subs and Rambo asked about the Gisbert Gallop? before
it was On-On, on a trail laid partly in a green powder! After following several
huge arrows the trail ran cold, more confusion reigned, some of us back tracked to
follow the Hare who by now was somewhere ahead on the construction site of the
KK bypass! As we called the Pack “On” a vehicle with bright flashing lights appeared
from the darkness closing in on us fast, the driver could not believe his eyes
as the few torches he had spotted were suddenly
joined by many more appearing from over the mounds of earth “You must be
idiots” were his words as he skidded to a halt “ yes we are” we replied “and we
run every Monday “!
Still scratching his head,
he promptly directed us onto the correct route.
The “Irish” themed trail
continued on with Shorts on the Long then the Longs on the Short and then
several trails meet up at the Kerswell Common sweet stop. After more weaving up
and down through woodlands and circular run around a field which Rearender was determined
to do! Piddler Drag Act Ubend and I paddled over a stream and after a final
gasping uphill climb had a good fast run in back to the church CP.
As we entered the Lord Nelson the landlords excellent spread of food was already all
being swiftly devoured by the “early birds”
Down Downs were awarded to
DEEP SEMEN …. for grabbing a
piggyback from Bluebird over the stream to keep his gym shoes dry!
A great evening well done the Hare and to all who wore something green!
