On Mon 12th it was our
Harvest Festival Auction trail from the Church House Inn
Stokeinteignhead, with a good turnout which included the return at
last of POACHER who brought along Daisy to run her first Hash with
us. Hare OLLIE gave trail instructions “ will include more road
this time to get back in time for the Auction” and that he “not
seen anything of “BLUEBELL” ?? who usually appears somewhere.
On-On after a chaotic start the pack finally found the trail and
trekked upwards on the stony track, this was followed by several of
OLLIE's usual cunning false trails and check-backs, which thankfully
slowed the FRB's, giving WOOF WOOF and I a chance to take the lead!
although this did not last long once we hit more steep stony hills
after the L/S split. With the church bells pealing loudly there was
no doubt now where we were and soon found our way heading back down
to the village. A good welcome from the landlord of the Church House
who had spread huge amounts of chips around the bar for us hungry
Hasher’s. With the locals as usual occupying their favourite corner
TEAPOT commenced the auction with plenty of vedge. jam, fruit, wine
etc. to bid for the pounds soon rolled in ! How much DID that Onion
cost?? and there was fierce bidding also from the locals for that
special wine! POACHER as usual left with his usual haul, but he did
supply some excellent cauliflowers one of which my HOVEL ANNIE was
most pleased with... thank goodness!
A final total of £275 was raised
for which the villagers were most grateful, this to be used to help
with the cost of maintaining the churchyard.
Down Downs were awarded to :-
MELLON PICKER for giving MANPIG a
250 Runs Badge last week, which he already had!
