Monday 28th Dec on #1619
They call this Chrimbo Limbo between Christmas and New Year
When we’re still eating leftover food and drinking Christmas beer
But yest’day was the last Monday of two thousand and fifteen
And 8 bedraggled hashers in Chudleigh car park could be seen.
Whilst all YOU couch potatoes were still home and getting fatter
WE circled up in pouring rain our teeth began to chatter.
WE are dedicated hashers or some might call us crazy
out to support our Hare tonight Wide Receiver’s never lazy.
Rambo and Doris home from Mexico - literally straight off plane
From basking in temperatures of 28 to running in the rain!
Manpig brought Archangel (now finished his heavenly duties)
Melon Picker had a cough, so walked in welly booties……….
under umbrella with Teapot, who said he couldn’t stay
just took our names, then went home, to watch match of the day!!!
After the circle we ran up the road looking for marks in flour
And after circumnavigating town, were back in just an hour.
The shiggy deep and hills were steep, the rain was getting harder
WE shivered wet at sweetie stop, whilst YOU raided your larder!
5 of us shared 3 bags of sweets, a soggy short re-group
I even did the longs last night, which was just an extra loop!
WE all staggered back to car park and over one last bridge
The biting rain blew in our face, as YOU staggered from your fridge!
As WE peeled off muddy trainers, wet clothes then headed for the Inn
YOU peeled another satsuma and added tonic to your gin
But as you read this poem and think about the weight upon your hips
Don’t feel guilty ‘cos we stuffed ourselves with plates of fish and chips.
