....Run No 1628 at the Obelisk CP Mamhead with
40+Hasher's Circled up for a Virgin trail laid by Damp Patch assisted by
Undulating Bottom. Very good to see back with us Wide Receiver, upright
and ready to walk already! also Big Issue and Stung-down-Under. After
instructions re L/S splits Walkers Sweets etc., this trail appeared to
have everything! we headed off towards the Obelisk (Built 1742 by the
wealthy land owner to guide ships in and out of Exeter)
….we were being guided more by flour now, down the tracks to a check
where we all decided to follow Poacher big mistake ...“Baa” ...then back
again! the well marked trail led us along tracks over, under or round
fallen trees, crawling under branches, but some very good off road in
between which this week I was able to do for the first time for many
weeks. A steep scramble uphill was needed to reach the Sweets at the
View Point where Soapy ID'ed all the locations for miles away by reading
the Braille? It was on-on again around more forest tracks before we
finally reached the CP
What we all did not know at the time was that
Fukawe who was parked on the roadside verge was trying to remove his
car from the deep mud and while waiting for assistance was constantly
approached my many passing drivers who wanted to know if he was “Waiting
for business ?” assistance from the helpful Poacher soon arrived from
the Bishop to tow him clear.
The wrapped fish and chips at the
Bishop were excellent with the scene looking more like the last supper
before the DD's commenced with :-
WINFIELD up first give this for a
wrong story for Forrest Hump's DD last week, well their were so many
awards this did sound possible I thought?
DRAG ACT next for wearing her son's over sized shoes rather than waste them!
SATNAV a 200 RUNS badge but she tried to protested about drinking from that “dog bowl”
STUNG down UNDER for a query about her matching “collar and cuffs”
Hare DAMP PATCH and a his flour carrier UNDULATING BOTTOM for that excellent trail
On On to next week it's THE AWARDS NIGHT at the Keyberry Arms, Decoy,
Newton Abbot, Hares :-Piddler & U-Bend pens and paper will be
required and it's not an English test from Piddler !
