On run No 1627 Mon 22nd we were at the Kennick Dam, between Kennick and
Tottiford Reservoirs a great joint turnout with TVH3 the Devon Lunatics
and Kirton H3, on another muddy but testing trail laid by Deep Semen,
Forrest Stump, Forrest Hump, Bogof & Mint. Each one apparently laid
their own section, so not sure who to hold responsible! but it turned
out to be a great trail with marks clearly designed to bring back those
FRB's at every opportunity! as we wound our way through
the forest's up and down around those reservoirs, with a bright full
moon making its odd appearance and every “On-On” greeted instead by
increasingly load wolf howls from the pack which really should have been
Baaa's as in one place we all followed the FRB's down an unmarked
route! Eventually we regrouped at a good drinks and sweet stop by
Tottiford before the final L/S split, here with my calf telling me it
had had enough of this! I along with Wet Johnnie also in a similar
state, headed back to the Dam to find two Kirton Hashes there who didn’t
find the trail, one of whom was later revealed as their long serving
“On Sec”. Eventually back down at Christow in a steadily overfilling
Artichoke the landlord had laid on a good spread for us followed by many
DD's with Rambo in charge, the ones that I was able to remember them
going to were :-
GRIM:- for being late as usual
ZORRO:- almost falling in the reservoir
MOULDY DICK:- a pathetic call nothing like a wolf!
FORREST HUMP :- all trail errors blamed on her!
WET JOHNIE:- having problems with the arrow marks!
DEEP SEMEN & MINT a Wellie DD for all that mud.
A great evening well done to all the Hares.
On-On to next week its a Leap Year Hash at Mamhead Obelisk Car Park
(SX920807) OD the Bishop Lacey, Chudleigh, Hare:- Damp Patch Winfield
