Monday
9th May TVH3 Run1638 from the Artichoke Christow Hare's were meant to
be FORREST STUMP & HUMP, but as Forrest was “lost in France” he had
delegated? full responsibility and any consequences to his co-Hare, who
with grateful assistance from REARENDER (with injured knee) and SLACKER did a magnificent
job of, firstly laying the trail on Sunday, only to have it partly
washed away overnight, after this the rain returned on Monday which
required a relay particularly on the lanes where it was being
washed away as fast as it was re-marked ! ALSO apart from not obtaining
permission to be on private land and Not advising the Pub re food all
was in place??
The rain had stopped and there were even blue skies as our hardy band of Hashers (where were the others ? ) set off on trail which included several L/S splits and a Sweet Stop. On-On along the lanes with PILTDOWN MAN and AVATAR heading towards Bridford where after a very very steep 380ft climb up that well known quarry track which certainly sorts out the stamina, we arrived on Christow Common with a chance for a photo of the bluebell wood and the clear blue sky over Dartmoor. Back on lanes again and I decided best not to push my luck on the recovering calf muscle and headed on home while the remaining pack headed on towards the woodlands and reservoirs on the very scenic trail.
Back inside the Artichoke at a nominal cost landlady had at FH's request had prepared a selection of excellent sandwiches and a huge pile of chips for us to enjoy. As not one of our many GM's were present it was decided to postpone the DD's to next week. But there were early nominations made and noted for HARE or the YEAR=Forrest Hump and PILLOCK of the YEAR=Forrest Stump.
Very well done to FH and her Team for marking and remarking an excellent Trail.
On-On to next week at the Drum Inn, Cockington, Hare:- Wigwam
Here from Rambo's camera are SMEllie and KC with Archangel on trail with the sun bursting through as last. On On Winfield
