4th July its Independence Day and enough said of that! TVH3 were in
Stover Country Park for #1646 Trail laid by DRAG ACT & DIRTY
DEALER. At Piltdown's Circle a welcome to TINY TANKS and as DORIS is
still waiting for a Hare for Aug 8th as I have one in mind on Dartmoor
will cover this with a possible new On-Down, more info later. Over to
the Hares who's trail will be 3+ and 5+ miler with several splits plus
Sweet Stop, if we can find them in the undergrowth this time! On On
around the lake we headed with POACHER with GAME BIRD as usual
somewhere out front and I don't remember seeing them again on trail. The
Hares trail wound around the plantations then out onto tarmac, with a
chance here to up the pace without tripping over! After a check ahead,
lay the old grass covered clay hills, where WET JOHNNY, WIGWAM and I
decided these should be run up but then perhaps not after a few steep
yards! Great views from the top right down to Teignmouth as we headed
on, then down to the river Bovey where we did find the sweets and also
chance here for WIDE and WIGWAM to plunge into the river (MOUDY would
have loved this) On again to the next check where DIRTY DEALER stood and
only smiled as I for a change led the pack up a steep hill climb only
to find a HA HA! at the top. On trail again we all headed back towards
the plantations with another L/S split before we finally arrived back at
the car park. This trail had certainly been a good work out for all,
even WET FART, who said he may need to recover for the next two weeks!
Back at the Clay Cutters Arms OD some good food had been provide for us with the usual Honesty Pot, followed later by the Down Down awards which went to:-
SLIP-ON-ME (drinking again!) this time for getting lost before finding the Clay Cutters
ARCHANGEL (must pedal faster) late on-trail once again!
WIDE RECEIVER and DAMP PATCH (close together) as they were so close all evening!
TINY TANKS our visitor was this DD a new experience for him?
