Bobbiball's 1653rd TVH3 Trail was located on Ramshorn Down, Bickington
there was some concern...would the Hashers find it? as the first sign
carefully erected by Bobbi had already blown down off of the signpost,
then at the bottom of the Down some cars parked here! they should be up
on top? too difficult some said looking at the steep rutted stone y
track... if Bobbi can drive his Saxo up there surely we all can? So off
road for the first time for my car and probably others,
we slowly bumped and shook our winding way to the top and boy what a
great panoramic view there was from here, well worth that climb. GM
PILTDOWN called up the Circle with the biggest turnout present for a
long time, several visitors, returnees, and good to see new Hashers were
also still with us, even MOHICAN was there although that hair did need
attention! BOBBI'S instructions were “4 L/S splits Sweet Stop and on the
last long Torches may be needed in the woodland” ( we should remember
now to be prepared as those nights are drawing in) On-On we set with the
trail winding its way down from Ramshorn through brambles and gorse to a
mark could not be sure what it meant? But on-on then after a good run
on open fields it was back-back ? Something went wrong back there but we
were now heading down though Rora Wood with the late summer sun
filtering through the trees it was certainly great to be out in the
countryside even though we were soon climbing and the scrambling up the
steep hill named Mount Ararat, although this did not look like the
Turkish volcano, to find the Sweet Stop. After refreshments it was on on
down following a riding trail though the woodland, finally reaching
that 3 L/S split deciding here not to push my luck on the leg or the
darkness and took the Short with SM ELLIE back up to Ramshorn while the
last Long did a circuit around it with that steep car track to climb to
the On Home.
At the OD in the Star at Liverton it was quite a busy night with a band playing and a lady pushing her raffle tickets at us, not sure if I won as had to leave before the draw maybe the prize is in the post! Down Downs were awarded to the following lucky Hashers...
BOBBIBALL for an excellent trail even though there was that marking error !
RASPBERRY NIPPLE for scratching her leg and not letting Mouldy lick it better!
SMELLIE for still wearing glitter from the weekend festival.
WIDE RECEIVER for actually running 40 miles before he is 40? but it was also to raise money for the Chestnut Appeal, running along with him was DAMP PATCH and very well done to both of them.
