Mon15th #1652 from Bonehill Rocks CP for Slip on Me & Brenda's Trail
and another good turnout on a great evening, with many visitors and
one, very long returning Hasher SPARKIE so long that TEAPOT decided to
him as a “virgin” (looking back at our our 2001 list had completed 286
by then!) On-On the along the pairs trail we ran following at first huge
piles of sawdust ( very heavy to carry said Slip) which did gradually
reduce in size as we headed on across Bonehill Down to Ho
lwell
Lawn, testing us out over the horse jumps and water! Then alongside
Becka Brook, through bracken, along marshland bridges it was a testing
run. It was all going very well ! until just after a deserted barn at
Emsworthy, where we lost the trail completely, Hashers were now heading
in all directions, time was starting to Slip away ! with food at the OD
only available until 9pm decisions had to be made, deciding the best
option now was to try to get back towards Holwell Farm as soon as poss.
but ahead was that huge marshland where we tried several route getting
deeper and deeper in the bog, before finally finding an almost dry
pathway except for the river crossing! up and back to what must have
been the short trail towards Bonehill. 8:57 I said as we reached the CP
was that miles ?? asked ZOOT. Changing quickly we drove asap towards the
Rugglestone, hoping there would still be food and fortunately the
landlady had kept the kitchen open for us. A head count revealed that
MIGMAN SATNAV and ABLE SEMEN were still not back, as the darkness
closed in and we were about to send a search party out when car
headlights appeared bringing them safely On Home..Down Downs for this
extraordinary evening were awarded to :-
Kaylie ..BORN AGAIN SOMETHING ? for chattering on all the way around the trail.
The infamous Five WET JOHNNIE, BOBBIEBALL, SHRIVEL, WHISPERER & GRIM who followed someone-else's trail to SADDLE TOR
TEAPOT and UBEND so keen to drink, left their passengers up on the Moor ! plus a 300 RUNS Badge for UBEND.
DAMP PATCH for driving leaving his keys wallet and mobile phone on the roof of his car.
