10th Oct #1660 with HaldonH3 at The Church House Inn, Stokeinteignhead
for the Harvest Festival Hash & Auction, with Haldon H3. Hare:
Ollie. There was a great turnout from both Hashes for this event and as
everyone arrived early to beat the rush for spaces in the pub's small CP
there was plenty of manoeuvring going on to let the locals escape,
with PIDDLER popping in and out like a Jack in a Box before finally
finding his space. Good to meet so many old friends at the Circle where our GM PILTDOWN and Haldon's PLASTERER gave a big welcome to both Packs.
OLLIE's 3+ and 4+ mile trail, as was sung to him at his DD later like the “Grand Old Duke of York” leading us up and down those very uneven hill tracks after reaching Combeinteignhead. We even ran again on part of that John Musgrave Trail that we were on miles away some weeks ago. Eventually after the shiggy and stumbling on our way downhill we were soon On Home, where I had a good paced run in with an also fast recovering ARCHANGEL. After a reviving beer the auction began with TEAPOT in-charge and POLLYFELLA making the first winning bid for a mixed basket of goodies. Amongst the highest winning bids was a Sunday Lunch for 4 at the Palace Hotel for £90, even POACHERS cauliflower made £27! and there were many more making far more that their real value. The final total raised by the Hashes was £550 for Rowcroft Hospices much needed funds and very well done to all. The TVH3 Down Downs were awarded to POPEYE for RA abuse, OLLIE for that mountainous trail. WET JOHNNIE for getting home drunk the night before and POACHER now an engaged ppperson! to GAMEBIRD.
