Mon
17th Oct, #1661 was from The Park Inn, Kingskerswell, for Hare's
ARCHANGEL & PARAPRICK'S trail. At last at our Circle there was an
opportunity to award a 100 Runs badge and a DD to an unsuspecting
TEARARSE (before she took off home afterwards! )
The Hare's trail described as 5+ or 3 miler with a mix of on and off/road and a Drinks Stop, led us up out of Kingskerswell past the Sloop Inn and up-up to an off road track again named after that chap JOHN MUSGRAVE (a keen walker from Torquay who left a legacy trail of 35 miles to the South Devon Ramblers Association to) lets hope we are not actually doing all of this tonight? At a Split I took the Long with SHRIVEL and TEARARSE who was still feeling the effects of that beer!
Up onto lanes now with plenty of marks but no kicked out checks..so where were the other Long runners? After checking out most of these almost into Daccombe, we turned off road towards Coffinswell meeting GEORGY who was on the “Short” before another hilly lane circuit brought us back down onto Milber Lane where we found MOULDY on duty at the gateway of PARAPRICKS home.
This was no ordinary “Beer Stop” but a large buffet with a drinks bar selection providing apart from beers etc. a choice of at least 5 brands of Rum...they all had to be sampled of course we needed reviving! Unfortunately it was soon time to move on down Aller Brake with the legs feeling a little heavier now?? But at Aller lay-by there was a good chance run it off along that very quiet Newton Road to the Park Inn.
As the pub was very busy with the football on TV we conducted the DD's and ate the usual excellent food out undercover, most came out but WIGWAM was determined to see Liverpool beat Man U..he may still be in there! DD's were awarded to SATNAV and SLIP-on-ME for short cutting.
SHRIVEL DICK for complaining about his cold sausage! PILTDOWN MAN for a man cold and not reaching Coffinswell! ARCHANGEL his 600 Runs Badge, also with PARAPRICK as a reward for that trail. A naming for ELLIE now NICE BUNS for those cakes a the drinks stop??
Our thanks to ARCHANGEL and PARAPRICK for a great “beer stop” and evening.
On to next weeks trail: The Obelisk CP, Mamhead, OD Bishop Lacey, Chudleigh, Hares:- Zoot & Hotlips
