GM Piltdown welcomed the pack with an unusual brain teaser “Who did Exeter City play on Saturday” Mellon Picker a faithful supporter was quick to respond...” A 1-0 win over Carlisle United”
Other announcements were, Bowling eve 21st Oct, Hares urgently wanted for November and the Christmas Raffle tickets will start next week!
Ollie's trail although not too long in view of the Auction was a testing event where “The only way is up” as the song goes. Up and up towards the main Teignmouth -Torquay road, followed by a careful crossing into the fields and footpaths above the South West Coastal Footpath.
Plenty of checks and crosses kept the pack searching, before it was on-on again along that roller coaster footpath, with a final steep climb back up above Labrador Bay to level ground and a re-crossing of the road.
A cunning diversion into the fields next caught some out from where the only way was careful run on another stoney track, followed by a good paced run into Stokeinteignhead.
Inside the pub the auction table had been set up ready for Teapot to encourage some keen bidding, looking at the spread it had certainly a good year for vegetables, apples, greengage jam and dahlias although there was a cask of ale and wine's amongst it all. After the last marrow had been sold the final sum raised for Rowcroft was £260.
Down Downs were awarded to these deserving offenders :-
COLDTIZ early arrival for a change? but only to get into a parking space before it was full.
SATNAV who NEVER eats salt?...was eating salted peanuts!
SLIP-on-ME took a very short cut on trail.
WET JOHNNY for showing us his (hairy) feet!...no change of footwear?
MAVIS who knew the area well?...led the pack astray!
Thank you Ollie for another great evening.
