Monday 16th Oct #1712 from The Jolly Sailor East Ogwell with Hares Zoot
and Hot Lips, a good turnout in-spite of hurricane Ophelia warnings as
she passed overhead.
At our Circle Piltdowns question was based on a storm size, but not sure what the answer was?
“I have a Virgin” said Teapot, reaching into his boot for a large bag...but surely not in there!?
Archangels new Hasher then stepped forward to be doused in the usual Teapot manner.
Announcements re. our Christmas draw which is now OPEN! with the draw date to be confirmed as probably Monday 18th Dec.at the Kings Arms Kingsteignton, mean-while our Party tickets for 15th Dec.are selling well.
On-On now out of Pub car park, with walkers going left, while the main pack headed right up onto the common with a frantic search for marks. Soon it was on down a track into Mill Lane following a well marked trail to the River Lemon.
On next into Broadbridge Wood with Wet Johnny leading using his local knowledge to guide the pack, somewhere there must have been a Short route?, but we were now all locked into a good paced run through the woods to Chercombe Bridge.
Checking at the bridge did slow the pace a little, but Wet Johnny was soon calling “On-On” uphill towards West Ogwell Cross, where after a left turn we were heading to West Ogwell. Soon another check did gave me a chance to lead the pack for a change, after taking the right route across the fields, but not for long, as soon the FRB's were pounding past me towards Peartree Cross.
This trail was certainly a good workout as the pace did not slacken even as I reached Denbury along with Manpig and SMEllie, we were soon passing HM Prison Channings Wood, but looking round there did not seem to be any extras joining here! We moved on to reached the Sweet Stop at Stubbings Cross and from here a final downhill burst took us On-Home, had it been a good 10k workout certaily some say so!
Inside the Jolly Sailor the pack were soon reviving themselves with ale and speedily devouring the special buffet before the Down-Down awards were presented to:-
WET FART- too much posing and stretching in the CP did made him pass wind!
POLLYFELLA- for his extellent 3hour Birmingham Marathon run “Moo”
PISSWELL- leaving her dog with SLIP without a poo bag!
ARFANAR- her 200runs Badge... well done!
On to next week to the SHIP INN Cockwood Harbour, Nr.Starcross. EX6 8RA. Hare Winfield
On-On
WINFIELD
