Well we headed up the village whereby we found our first split and being a lazy hasher headed for the short......on on for a good quarter of a mile only to find no trail, so we headed back and started again, the same area was covered but this time a little further, and at a crossroads we found our first blob of sawdust, two trails were noted but something told me to head up and that is exactly what I did, again some distance was passed before we found our next trail, up, up and steeper as we went, the ground although surprisingly dry at the beginning, became very sodden and hazardous once more.
Approximately a mile uphill we found a check whereby we headed across and on on to a fruit stop, (oranges and apples). There were two trails from here and yes correct, took the shortest one back to the pub! Two and a half miles in all. The longs apparently had a very tough, steep trail, sinking mud, over the ankles once more, historic nonetheless by passing over the river by means of a clapper bridge. Six miles were measured.
During Down Downs, Forrest mentioned that when he went back to collect the leftover fruit, a horse was seen eating it!
Down Downs:
Wigwam for not being able to find 'it'
Fallen Woman; for dropping down in front of a male hasher for a much needed pee
