Mon 19th August
at Trenchford Reservoir where there’s £4.6 million water supply improvement work
in progress, this has already created excellent new views across the reservoir
from our Circle at the CP, another Virgin Harriett welcomed this week, along
with returnees Warm Front and Double Top.
Hare Forrest already seemed confused about the trail as he referred his scrap of
paper, but he reassured us that at least half the trail was Woodlend’s!
Quite which half I never did
discover! Off we set on this at least 6 miler On-On around to where the reservoirs
meet, then soon after things started to go astray as on the Long we could only find
one mark and then a check but after this we met the short coming towards us!
They were confused so were we! After checking in all directions we met the Hare
and order was restored.
A good section of an off
road cycle course followed, then some testing hill climbs up a lane to the
Fruit Stop manned by Woodlend. After this the trail was soon off road again
into fields here Mohican and I wound our way through woodlands uphill and down over
many stiles pausing once at an excellent view point to far over Bovey.Eventually
back to a lane and as it was now nearly 8:45 and getting darker a decision was
made to avoid the last Long and cut short on lanes for the last mile. Back at
the CP Rent Boy and Drag Act were still waiting for those FRB’s Plucker and Dick Vinci who had missed a
turning in the woods and were still somewhere behind us, which made a nice
change! Back down to OD at the Palk Arms and after reviving ourselves with a
beer and a choice of baguette filling with chips the DDs commenced.

for losing Forrests concise Map? and blamed for causing the confusion!
