Monday September 16th: 'Spectacular as usual from the Blues Brothers'
Monday 16th September
Crown & Sceptre, St Marychurch, Torquay
Hared by ‘The Blues Brothers’
Having not quite understood the slightly tetchy hare, due to not
listening properly, we set off, our numbers swollen by a fine quintet of
local virgins. The promise of a port and cheese stop spurred many a
weary leg into a steady trot towards Petitor Golf Course. A long of
about six miles took in several declines into various picturesque coves
with consequent inclines. One of these involved the usual (for the Blues
Brothers) slightly risky woodland descent where at least one of the
party nearly found herself going over the edge. Fortunately 69 was on
hand to save Satnav and she lived to tell the tale later in the pub.
This being only one of her falls, she was also in receipt of a
down-down. For Georgy P Orgy
Maidencombe cove proved a descent too far and she short cutted at this
point. Melon Picker was stretched by the steep down and ups but
nevertheless found the run and the scenery very enjoyable, particularly
the quality of the cheese variety and the “rather nice dark Port”.
Teapot loved the views across Lyme Bay.
Rentboy administered
down-downs to Bobbiball for mistaking a Hawaian cell number for his own,
Satnav for falling over a lot and to Fallen Woman and Ladybouy for
enjoying the Port just a little too much. He received a DD and his 300
run badge from Teapot.
Spectacular as usual from the BBs and another fine run for the records.
