Run No.1611 Mon 9th Nov at the Claycutters Arms, Chudleigh Knighton for
Hare: Drag Act's trail. First DD nomination should have gone to 69
before he left, as on arrival at this pubs huge CP which only had 4 cars
in it! 69 was concerned about not being blocked in?, he tried the empty
spaces here and there, but was not happy so drove out and parked on the
road! At the Circle which was my honour as our GM and others are out in
Barbados probably not as windy and wet underfoot as
here
tonight? Visitors GRIMM and AVATAR were welcomed also virgin hasher
Michael bought along by WARM FRONT he said he had done a little running !
(but disappeared into the distance with WARM FRONT and WIDE. as soon
as we started!) DRAG ACT was concerned that her trail could all go
“seriously wrong” as our path would be crossed by Haldon H3, so had
changed from flour to sawdust at the vital spot to avoid this? Her well
marked flour trail led us across a soggy boggy Knighton Heath, chasing
after those FRB's with DAMP PATCH and SHRIVEL DICK towards Heathfield
and a L/S split at the new cycle bridge. Across and we were now on
sawdust and still chasing! Another L/S now and a chance maybe to get
ahead of them! no checks kicked out so ahead at last! But some steep
climbing up the clay hills gave them a chance to close in. At the RG we
were told to “look for the sweets under a gorse bush” but there were
thousands of them! Thankfully with most of the pack here now we soon
found them. On-On into woods and along the River Bovey edge we followed
the sawdust, eventually back to that bridge with a good long run in to
Home where non running PEANUT and ZOOT had joined us.
DD's were awarded to DRAG ACT for putting us through all that shiggy, but an excellent runners trail about 5 miles +
PIDDLER for constantly querying the calls “Here’s to Cloth-ears” was his “song”. ZOOT for sitting and not running !
DAMP PATCH his 6th run and possibly 6th DD? and he was now wearing
wellies. to AVATAR a visiting RA Down Down, and he did have a little
trouble with this!
Well done to DRAG ACT for and excellent trail and managing the complications from HH3.
It was all going so well AVATAR.......
