Mon 8th May #1690 Circle at The Wellington Inn Ipplepen for Hare: Wet Johnny's trail
At our Circle good to NICE BUNS back with us again as GM PILTDOWN reminded us that our AGPU is only NOW 2 Weeks away at Broadhempston after FUKAWE'S trail with short agenda and Hash Food!.
WET JOHNNY with bike! described his 6 mile trail, a mix of on-road and off with 4 L/S split’s a Sweet Stop a section of double marking so don't get confused!, before we set off on a bright & breezy evening out of the village.
On Long with a mile of road before finding footpaths then losing ourselves following like sheep! in a farm yard, but thanks to MOULDY'S local knowledge we were soon back on trail, now at Fermoys garden centre turning back here off road beside the A381 towards Causeway Cross.
Soon we were on narrow tracks crossing fields of Barley, before the footpath led us through someone's immaculate garden out into Dainton village and going under the main rail line “On Up” to Miltor Maytor Common where the Sweets were at last!
Moving on we soon discovered that this was the double marking and a possible double looping area for the unwary as WOOF WOOF and ALL the WAY nearly discovered after passing Stoneycombe Quarry and climbed back up that big circle of the bluebell woods above Bickley Mill.
Next we were rounding the fields of lush grassland watched carefully by a herd of Highland cattle it was back on road, only to find GOBBLER there with the sole of her trainer half off walking On Home, giving up on finding repair string, best option now was to rip it off and make a slow jog return to the Wellington Inn.
After reviving ourselves and enjoying the landlords special sausage and chip offer it was time for those Down Downs which were awarded to:-
PIDDLER a DD on return, for calling TINY TANKS Tiny Tim!
PILTDOWN MAN forgot to bring his wallet
PARAPRICK for using the nerd name for ZOOT
RONNIE now christened MORNING GLORY for something about running?
Well done WET JOHNNY for and excellent trail and evening.
On to next week at East Cliff CP Teignmouth, OD The Jolly Brise (Wetherspoons)
Hare: Wide Receiver
On-On
WINFIELD
