#1701 on Mon 24th June at Hunters Brewery, Bulleigh Barton Farm with
Hares ARCHANGEL & ONLY HERE FOR THE BEER, the word Brewery had 40+
Hashers somehow finding their way down the winding lanes to this hidden
farm, on another great summer evening, soon what seemed like a huge
parking area was full of vehicles even KERMITS camper was in there.
At our Circle PILTDOWN welcomed a group from Haldon H3 before posing his latest Quiz question “When was Hunters Brewery first established? ”Once again dates were thrown at him! but it was PRICKLEE BUSH who correctly said 2008.
The Hares very brief Trail instructions were given much to PIDDLERS annoyance as he likes detail! The farmer on his Quad was ready to deal with the sheep as we headed into the first field and around the first steep hill, soon up it, but there were great views over the rolling green hills of Devon, before circling back down to where we started! next there was another hill on a great green track around a the field of the brewery barley.
Out into a lane following the sawdust on Long, then a narrow almost overgrown footpath with WET JOHNNY leading us through the nettles (which were still stinging this morning!) Confusion at the next circle but eventually finding marks it was On-On through the water and shiggy back to the lane.
Going down next with GOING DOWN on a steep stoney track where BOBBIBALL had no trouble dealing as he was on his bike! But I did not see him come back up when MOULDY DICK said it was a HA-HA not funny! Especially when PIDDLER stumbled over on the roots going back up.
We were soon back in that Barley field with no marks, as someone had mown the edge space removing all the marks or so ARCHANGEL said? deciding to go on round clockwise this time we were soon back to the On Home.Too short a trail for some? including me so there was plenty of time for another circuit of this great green space around the huge hilly field barley field.
The Pack were now gathered inside the Brewery where we were given a choice of casks of real ales to drink from and told “Just drink it” and so we did! While the owner Gave us a very informative talk through his successful brewing business, before we were able to enjoy some excellent food which Sue from Bulleigh Elms Catering laid along the bottling conveyor!
The DD's were awarded to the following offenders :-
ADAM- virgin from last week, who lost? the Chicken Hat so drink up again!
U-BEND for taking a “dive” in the field.
WIGWAM for somehow going the wrong way on trail??
